About the event
Strings of Santoor — संतूर की तारें
An intimate evening of Hindustani classical music featuring Satyendra Solanki on the santoor, accompanied by Tarun Lala on tabla.
About the Santoor The santoor is a trapezoid-shaped hammered dulcimer with over a hundred strings, played by striking them gently with lightweight wooden mallets called mezrabs. Originally a folk instrument from the Kashmir valley, it was elevated to the concert stage by the legendary Pandit Shivkumar Sharma and has since become one of the most evocative voices in Hindustani classical music.
With its hundred strings struck gently, the santoor creates a shimmering, bell-like resonance — at once delicate and expansive.
About the Artists Satyendra Solanki is an 'A' Grade artist from All India Radio & Doordarshan, trained under the legendary Late Pt. Omprakash Chourasiya. Born into the musical Ajrada Gharana tradition, he has performed at prestigious festivals across India and internationally.
